Five Indians were arrested after they stowed away aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft that flew from Hong Kong to Dhaka, police and airlines officials said on Sunday.
They boarded the BG 079 Hong Kong-Dhaka flight on Friday and hid in the plane instead of disembarking in Dhaka. The aircraft was due to fly to London late on Saturday.
"We are interrogating them. It seems that they are telling lies and giving conflicting statements. We will interrogate them further," police Inspector M.A. Hanif said.
"They were hiding apparently with a motive to fly to London," State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, Mir Mohammad Nasiruddin said.
A joint team of defense and police intelligence officials was interrogating them, he said.
The Indians, all Sikhs and aged between 25 and 30, were hiding in the ceiling above a toilet of the DC-10 aircraft that landed in Dhaka.
Their travel documents said that they came to Dhaka from Calcutta by road a few days before flying to Hong Kong last Sunday and back on Friday night, he said.
