Art Contest for PC Flight Simulator Pilots
Whether flight simulators are your business, your passion, your hobby, or just an occasional pastime, the San Diego Aerospace Museum and Biplane, Air Combat & Warbird Adventures invite you to participate in the first Flight Sim Art Contest, celebrating the beauty and unique character of images that can be created using personal computer flight simulator software.
Winning photos will be displayed on the San Diego Aerospace Museum (http://www.aerospacemuseum.org) and Biplane, Air Combat & Warbird Adventures web sites (http://www.barnstorming.com) and may also appear, with your name, in on-line web magazines, print magazines, and even on TV.
All images must be submitted via e-mail to contest@barnstorming.com. Your e-mail address will not be divulged to any third party and will only be used for contest related communication.
The entry deadline for the 2004 contest is 2400UT (Greenwich Mean Time) November 8, 2004. Contest rules are available at http://www.barnstorming.com/rules.php
Official Rules
What is the theme?
Any images relating to aviation or space flight of any kind are welcome as long as they have been generated by personal computer flight simulator software.
What categories of images can be submitted?
Two general categories will be accepted: screen grabs (unretouched), and post-processed (retouched).
Who can enter?
The contest is open to everyone.
How many entries can I submit?
There is no limit. Multiple works by the same artist will be judged but may not be exhibited.
Copyright
Entries must be submitted by the original artist. Do not submit an image captured by someone other than yourself. You must be the sole owner of the copyright of any image submitted. Your submission of an image is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the photo.
Ownership/Use Rights
Artists retain the copyright to their images. By entering the contest, artists agree their submitted images may be published on-line, in print, or broadcast without any fee or other form of compensation. Images will be credited to the artist named in the submission e-mail. Entries (including non-winning entries) may be selected for display or other use by the San Diego Aerospace Museum and Biplane, Air Combat & Warbird Adventures, with permission from the artist.
How do I enter?
Send images via email to contest@barnstorming.com. Include the name and version of the flight sim you used, and your name, city, state, and country. Entries must be received not later than 2400UT November 8, 2004.
What are the image requirements?
Submitted images must be in JPEG format at 72 dpi, no larger than 1024 x 768 and no smaller than 300 x 225. Maximum file size is 500K per image.
Image Modifications:
Not Permitted:
• No borders or frames may be added to images.
• No watermarks, signatures, or copyright notices may be added to images. All winning images will be displayed with the photographer's name.
• Adding or replacing elements in an image is not permitted.
Permitted Modifications:
• Images may be cropped and rotated as necessary as long as the rectangular format is maintained and the size is within the specifications above.
• Images may be resized as long as the aspect ratio is maintained
What else do I need to know?
Photos unrelated to the theme will not be accepted.
Judging
Local photography professionals, including San Diego Aerospace Museum and Biplane, Air Combat & Warbird Adventures staff will serve as judges. Awards will be announced at the December 11th Artists’ Reception at the San Diego Aerospace Museum and all online entrants will be notified by email.
Judges will select a winning and second place photo for each of the contest categories. In addition, one or more honorable mention winners may be selected, at the discretion of the judging panel. No financial compensation is provided to winners.
