British Airways Increases Fuel Surcharges

British Airways on Tuesday raised its fuel surcharges to GBP£16 (USD$30.37) from GBP£10 on long flights and to GBP£6 (USD$11.40) from GBP£4 on short trips.
"British Airways is to increase its fuel surcharge on all flights from Monday, March 28 as a result of continuing record oil prices," it said in a statement.
"Our fuel bill next year is expected to be an extra GBP£300 million. With prices continuing to rise, a surcharge increase is regrettably unavoidable," Martin George, British Airways' commercial director, said in a statement.
