The United States Federal Aviation Administration said on Friday it removed long-standing restrictions on Venezuelan airlines flying to US airports. "This is excellent news for the thousands of passengers who fly between the United States and Venezuela," the US embassy in Venezuela said in a statement giving notice of the change raising Venezuela's safety rating to Category 1. Venezuela had threatened to restrict flights by US airlines to its airports by April 25 unless the restrictions were lifted.
