Air France will take delivery of its first Airbus A380 superjumbo jet roughly five months after originally planned, the French carrier confirmed on Friday.
The decision to delay delivery, which was agreed with Airbus over a year ago but not announced at the time, was taken 18 months ago and was unrelated to the collapse last Sunday of a roof at Terminal 2E at Charles de Gaulle Airport.
An Air France spokeswoman declined to give a reason for the delay, saying only that it was taken in consultation with Airbus and French airport operator Aeroports de Paris (ADP).
A spokeswoman for ADP, however, said the operator had learned about the delivery delay only this week.
"This is not a decision that was taken by ADP. Only Air France can say why the date was pushed back," she said.
